I wasn’t familiar with Paula Cole but after listening to her I found the song “Mother, Son, and the Holy Ghost” which was so beautiful it made me tear up. I have so many favorite photographers that I couldn’t pick one so send one of my favorite photographs I took a few years ago.

Paula Cole rang out of nowhere when I bought Peter Gabriel Plays Live, recorded in Italy with video. She was amazing, really brought soul to the songs they performed. I recommend seeing this video.

Did I tell you I was in an Estrella Voll Damm beer commercial directed by del Toro? It starred Luis Tosar, who was in a film I was in for 3 seconds. Guillermo del Toro , was very nice to work with.

Lypsinka's execution was flawless. They didn't zoom in on her mouth, but it appeared flawless. Does she do this with rehearsal or improvised? There are people who can do it. ;)

Tasty food items in your photos here. I like lamb, if it's been marinated WELL in lemon juice, I can't handle the gaminess otherwise. I can eat it with something sweet, prunes, dates, honey, etc. The same goes with chavre cheese, it must have something sweet like candied walnuts, pecans or dried fruits for me to handle it.

And I can't believe you didn't cover Gertrude Stein in any previous podcasts either, at least none that came before me.

We'll definitely check out the Peter Gabriel video - thanks for that recommendation! And that's amazing that you worked with Guillermo del Toro!!!

Lypsinka is incredible! She edits all of those clips into one long track and then memorizes every word, every beat. So it's definitely rehearsed but she does perform it all live as well.

One of my favorite photographs is from one of my favorite photographers, Man Ray. Here's a link to an article about him that features one of my favorite photos, "Black and White," from 1926 (the first photo in the article) :

One of my favorite photographs is Robert Mapplethorpe's portrait of Patti Smith for the cover of Horses, her 1975 album. It's widely considered one of the greatest album covers of all time, and that iconic androgynous image of Patti-as-Rimbaud was radically transgressive for the era.

Absolutely LOVE this photo and it's definitely one of my favorite albums of all-time! And for a great read about Patti and Robert's life together, her book Just Kids is a must!
