Birthday celebrations, an exciting archaeological discovery, a Balkan culinary classic, John Waters' Closet Picks, music from Susana Baca, wisdom from Sara Ahmed & paintings by Evelyn De Morgan!
Love, love, love the revamped mid-week libation. It is a feast for my eyes & ears as I sip my morning coffee. It's always nice to hear your soothing voice Ryan and speaking of voices--Susana Baca is amazing. I enjoyed all the choices highlighted this week. Who knew- the beginning of civilization in Europe could be Albania--such a interesting article.
So happy you enjoyed it! We love Susana Baca. In addition to her prolific musical talents, she was also the Culture Minister of Peru! An amazing woman.
And that archaeological dig is very interesting indeed! We've been to Lake Ohrid in our various Balkan journeys, and it definitely feels like a very ancient place. Last year I read a great book about it - To the Lake: A Balkan Journey of War and Peace by Kapka Kassabova. It was written before these new discoveries, but it's still a fascinating read nonetheless.
Love the new format!!
Glad to hear it! Thanks for commenting!
Yay! So glad you like it. We worked long and hard on it. Thank you!

I've read To The Lake. I really liked the book and also recommend it to anyone interested in the history of that part of the world.
Indeed! Such an interesting perspective on this region.
Thank you! That was exactly the idea!
