I'm so thrilled I got to travel with you both/... But am even more than grateful to be on your blog... It feels like a modern artistic education in art, music, Dance, literature that I've been needing for a long time...hope your trip to emergency was helpful (did plenty of those with Richard for 10 years), but mostly I wanted to say thanks for the artistic "continuing education" that librarians love..... My favorite troublemaker is two-fold: Martin Luther King and Sinead O'Conner... Amazing people. And my spiritual guides are Thich Nhat Hanh, and Rumi....😘 (I know you didn't ask).

Thank you so much for the kind words, Eileen! I know we said this to you in person, but it's worth reiterating: Librarians like you are our heroes.

Ryan and I wouldn't be who we are (and we certainly wouldn't know what we know) without the amazing librarians who changed our lives as kids. Our favorite librarians taught us so much. They recommended life-changing books and entire courses of study, provided access to priceless intellectual resources that were beyond our financial means, and taught us *how* to do research, how to navigate that archive or that card catalog or that microfiche database to find the information we needed to become lifelong learners. (In fact, we are still using those skills every single day here on this Substack.) Those librarians also provided a much-needed safe space during times in our lives (especially junior high and high school) when the constant threat of bullying and actual physical danger was quite real. Come to think of it, the phrase "angelic troublemakers" is the perfect way to describe those librarians and the impact they had on our lives.

Fantastic choices, by the way, for your favorite angelic troublemakers and spiritual guides. Those are four of our favorite people as well!

Sending healing energies for a safe recovery.

Troublemakers? Why, Ms. Angela Davis, Lenny Bruce and Patricia Hearst.

You're in my thoughts, send me a thumbs up emoticon.

LOVE Angela Davis! And certainly Lenny Bruce was an angelic troublemaker, if ever there was one. And Patty Hearst - she might have been a demonic troublemaker, hahaha!
