Looking forward to the 100th episode. You asked what artists one could not live without and the first three that popped into my head were Margaret Macdonald Macintosh, Marie Laurencin and Suzanne Valadon. Likewise, three writers I read and re-read are Margaret Atwood, Ursula K. LeGuin and the Brontes. These are only a few of the brilliant creatives who have brought me great joy.

Love your choices! All fantastic artists and writers. All essential! Ryan and I have our work cut out for us narrowing down our personal picks for next week's episode. (My list of favorites unsurprisingly keeps getting longer and longer . . .)

Loved this episode! (But Ryan Wildstar! Your back! I’m so sorry.) I heard Topless Mother randomly on Spotify a while back (sometimes the algorithm works)—it’s been embedded in my brain ever since. You two. Such magic.

As for art I can’t live without…I don’t know how I could go on if I thought I’d never hear Mother of Pearl by Roxy Music or I’m Set Free by the Velvet Underground again. A Noiseless Patient Spider by Walt Whitman. The opening ballet sequence in White Nights (I LOVE it). And so many others, but that’s what comes to mind at this moment.

More great choices! I love all of these too. By the way, White Nights reminds me of Gregory Hines which reminds me that I need to recommend the wonderful Maurice Hines documentary that was recently added to The Criterion Channel! It's titled Maurice Hines: Bring Them Back. Highly recommended! His relationship with his brother was quite complex and fascinating.

Oh my Gods, Mother of Pearl . . . I feel exactly the same way! Probably one of my favorite Roxy Music tracks of all time!!! I'm Set Free . . . ditto!
