(182.9 x 152.4 cm) On view at Frieze Los Angeles with @jamescohangallery @friezeofficial :: Booth D15 The fair is open to the public from February 18th through the 19th, with VIP Preview days on the 16th and 17th. — Naudline Pierre’s Pain and Pleasure, 2023, foregrounds a female figure surrounded by three ethereal beings, two of which she protectively encircles with her arms. The flames, rendered in dense blacks and vibrant wisps of color, engulf the central character. They represent the power of change, positive transformation, and self assurance. In Pierre’s work, she builds her own realms by challenging traditional art historical tropes. Pierre reconfigures these formal systems from the past to generate new possible futures, grounded in the here and now. Photo by Paul Takeuchi.”

That’s it for this week! But we want the dinner party to continue! So each week we are asking a “dinner party” question for everyone joining us here at our table. Last week, we asked: “What was one of YOUR favorite illustrated books as a child?” Here are some of the great responses from the comments:

Thank you everyone for your wonderful responses! That was last week . . . but we don't want this week's dinner party to end either!

So here is this week's question for the table:

This week we are On the Road Again! We’re packing up our Tirana apartment and relocating to Skopje, North Macedonia for a month, followed by visits to Rome, Florence, Umbria and Sorrento. And on Tuesday we’re going to Skopje by car, which is about a five-hour drive.

So, our question for the table this week is:

What’s YOUR favorite road trip music?

What do you like to listen to when you travel? Favorite albums, favorite artists, favorite songs or mix tapes or playlists . . . what’s on your travel soundtrack?

Tell us your choice in the comments and we’ll share some of your responses on next week’s podcast! And thank you for joining us for Season Two of Aesthetic Arrest!

Cheers to that!
