I would be the quiet mouse in a corner observing and listening to my five dinner party guests. For intelligent conversation interspersed with clever repartee I would invite Gore Vidal, Benjamin Franklin, the Dalai Lama, Fran Lebowitz and Pete Buttigieg.
I would be a quiet mouse in a corner for this one too! Great choices. I would love to be a fly on the wall for the banter between Fran and the Dalai Lama!
Great choices. I want to go to this dinner party! Having met Gore Vidal, I can confirm that he's a brilliant choice and one of the best conversationialists I've ever met. I suspect Fran Lebowitz is the same. Would love to see them interacting with all the others!
After much thought, the five people I would love to invite to a dinner party would be . . . Mae West, Quentin Crisp, James Baldwin, Jan Morris and Wanda Sykes!
This is a tough one. In the words of the outlandish dinner party host himself, Noël Coward, "I went to a marvelous party!" So here are my choices (there were so many): Noël Coward, Socrates, Nina Simone, Leonardo da Vinci & Gertrude Stein!
And, of course, Alice B. Toklas as the chef for the evening!
LOVE this dinner party! (Of the dozens of various combinations I came up with, I can honestly say that almost every single person you mentioned was on one or more of my guest lists.) And I also adore the idea of Alice B. Toklas as the evening's chef. Hmm . . . maybe we should do an *actual* real-life dinner party based on her cookbook? I'll bake the dessert!
I have been pondering this nonstop. I’m going to say Tina Turner, Emma Goldman, Shirley Chisholm, Oscar Wilde, and Nick Cave (because he just has to be at any imaginary dinner party I host).
Another dinner party I want to attend! I want to meet all five. Oscar Wilde, Emma Goldman and Tina Turner were *also* on different iterations of my various imaginary guest lists. And of course you chose Nick Cave. I know you meant the musician, but I'd be happy if both musician Nick Cave and visual artist/sculptor Nick Cave showed up! (Can't wait for that new Shirley Chisholm movie, by the way.)
I want to attend every party on here! Well, I guess maybe I’d rather be an onlooker at Del Mar’s, might be more of a Rear Window type scenario. (And totally agree on the “other” Nick Cave.) Thanks you two for coming up with such a fun question!
Totally agree! There's a reason why it's such a great party question. And yes, Del Mar's dinner party might need binoculars instead of a seat at the table. Although...it could be highly entertaining!
Now I think we need to do a series of dinner parties where everyone comes dressed up (and in character?) as one of these famous dinner guests! *plots and plans*
Looking forward to watching The Old Oak. Great artists this week.
So happy you liked the artists this week! And you'll have to let us know what you think of The Old Oak.
So glad you liked the artists this week! I have a feeling you'll enjoy The Old Oak as much as we did. Ken Loach is a genius.
I watched The Old Oak. It was great. Thanks for the recommendation.
You're very welcome!
I couldn’t agree more! Wonderful!
Din-din's gonna be a toughie.
John F. Kennedy, Lee Harvey Oswald, River Phoenix, John Lennon, John Dee, Abramelin and my mother.
Hahaha! This would be one hell of a dinner party! I have so many questions already. I think some sparks might fly. Brilliant.
Wow! That's quite a table! Fascinating choices. "I can't wait to see how this turns out!" https://rb.gy/lee1vd

I hope I'm invited to this dinner party too! I'll cook! Amazing choices. I can only imagine the dazzling repartee at this soirée!

Yes, yes, yes to this dinner party!
