I can't wait to see STAX. It was one of my favorite soul labels with the best gut-bucket artists.
Booker T & The MG's, outta sight! Isaac Hayes, had a song called "Soulsville" which was featured in the original Shaft (another favorite album soundtrack) with Richard Roundtree.
I love sangría, but I can't drink it because I will either make more of my own, or go out and buy a bottle of Sueco. I went through three in one night five years ago.
I had never watched Otis Redding perform before. DAMN. Then I found his whole performance at Monterey also on MAX. And THEN I found out he wrote Respect. Mind blown multiple times.

I love Booker T and the MG's and they are featured prominently in the documentary, which you will love. We watched the whole thing in one sitting!
And the Shaft soundtrack is a masterpiece! Isaac Hayes was badass.
However . . . I do love "Drift Away" by Dobie Gray.
LOVE!
There are so many amazing soul singers. Nina Simone is one of my favorites.
Nina is definitely the High Priestess of Soul!
Finally got to watch Stax: Soulsville U.S.A on MAX and it was even better than I expected. I had chills throughout. Thanks for recommending!
Oh, so glad you enjoyed it. It really packed a punch. So much amazing talent and iconic music out of one studio.
