I adore so many desserts, but the one dessert I will almost always order if it's on the menu is a mille-feuille puff pastry (aka Napoleon aka vanilla slice aka custard slice).
I have very fond memories in Paris of us taking our last few French francs (pre-euro) to buy one delectable Napoleon from our favorite bakery on the Isle St. Louis to share along the Seine.
Happy anniversary on your first 50 podcasts--with many more to come.
My favorite dessert is something from my childhood and I have never found a comparable in my adulthood. My great grandmother (Grandma B.) who cooked & baked on a wood-burning kitchen stove, used to make a custard pie with fresh raspberries. I don't know what she did to that custard & raspberries, but it was exquisite.
I think the goodness came from raspberries from her garden, eggs from her own chickens and milk & butter fresh from a local farmer. No preservatives & no pesticides.
Yay for 50 podcasts! Here’s to many, many more! Favorite desserts: Key lime pie and baklava. Really though, I’ve rarely met a dessert I didn’t like. Give me a tootsie pop and I’ll be happy as a little clam.
Yum! Key lime pie and baklava are two more of my favorites. These comments are making me very hungry. (And I, too, would be quite content with a tootsie pop!)
Key Lime Pie! I forgot about Key lime pie. So good. And yes, baklava is something we actually eat all the time because...well, because we're living in the Balkans and it's everywhere and really delicious!
Great podcast. Looking forward to Ryan E’s reading suggestion. Sounds really interesting. Ok like you Ryan I don’t really like sweet things much so my favorite desert is really anything with real yummy whipped cream so cream puff right at the top of the list:)
Yes! Tiramisu is another one I will almost always order if it's on the menu!
Agreed! Usually Ryan orders the dessert and I just take like one spoonful. But if it's tiramisu, I'm all in!
Like Dorothy, Blanche, Rose and Sophia in the middle of the night, my favorite dessert has got to be cheesecake!
Cheesecake fixes everything! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S30I21KK4wQ

Thank you! I'm going to start reading it tomorrow. Whipped cream makes everything better! And yes, those cream puffs were delicious.
