Could not agree more! Peter Sellars was a comic genius and it's impossible not to laugh at some of his antics. It gets me every time. The combo of Sellars/Edwards and Mancini was cinema magic!
Is there any score more iconic than Pink Panther? I loved the doc. Also, there’s a PBS Great Performances concert coming up in November - it’s the Hollywood Bowl celebration of Mancini’s centennial birthday.
Ooh! Can't wait to see that performance at the Hollywood Bowl . . . Cynthia Erivo is one of my favorite singers and she's *perfect* for the Mancini songbook. Thanks for letting us know! We love PBS and will definitely be watching.
I have to say that one of my favorite Blake Edwards films (also with a score by Henry Mancini) has got to be Days of Wine and Roses. The incredibly haunting performances from Lee Remick and Jack Lemmon give me total aesthetic arrest. An absolute masterpiece!
I love so many of these films, but I must choose Victor/Victoria as my favorite. It was so transgressively queer for its time! (Plus Julie Andrews doing drag is everything.)
Edwards/Mancini movie that makes me smile is The Pink Panther. It's just laugh-out-loud fun.

Yes! The Pink Panther is so hilarious. The clips in the documentary practically had us on the floor laughing.
