I'll chime in first with my poetry pick: H.D. aka Hilda Doolittle! I wrote an essay about her - H.D. and Me: Thoughts on H.D.’s “Eros” - which can be read here:
You already know, but one of my favorite modern poets is Andrea Gibson. They blow my heart up constantly. Bobby Lefebre is another go to. He’s local and the current Colorado Poet Laureate--so beautiful. Poetry resonates most with me when I get to listen.
PS Chris and I are listening to 100% That Bitch and celebrating the return of the sun. Thank you for the soundtrack!!!
Ooh . . . Andrea Gibson, yes! Love them! Such an amazing poet *and* performer. I don't know Bobby Lefebre's poetry but am immediately going to check out his work. Thank you for the recommendation! Re: 100% That Bitch . . . we're especially proud of that playlist. Bangers for days! For those just tuning in, you can listen here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6xLJDFqVFfd8N26cEsKig3
Thank you for another wonderful episode. You guys kept me company while I started a yummy slow cooker bolognese. I guess I'm going to be "caveat-gal" at your table because I always feel the need to provide context to my picks. 😆 Like, I'm not offering up the pinnacle of greatness in the history of the world, but I will share what's meaningful to me at this moment. Poetry is not easily accessible to me. It makes me work for it. I can appreciate the beauty of language. But it doesn't penetrate unless I slow tf down and get into a meditative place. Sometimes I'm lucky and I'm already mentally prepared. But 99% of the time I have to work to get there. That said, Seeds Planted in Concrete by Bianca Sparacino speaks right to me. It's like she's already in my head, comforting me. She weaves into language the things I'm already thinking about.
First of all...slow cooker bolognese? What time is dinner and what can we bring? Thank you for chiming in with your recommendation. The beauty of language...it's all about that, truly. We'll definitely check out Bianca Sparacino. We all have to connect to what makes us vibrate, that's the poetry of life.

I never tire of recommending one of my favorite poets, Mina Loy. To hear my rendition of her poem Apology of Genius, check out my album, A City of Brittle Stars on bandcamp - https://ryanwildstar.bandcamp.com/album/a-city-of-brittle-stars
Yes! I worship Mina Loy and your chillingly beautiful version of "Apology of Genius" is one of my favorite tracks ever.
