This week I am here and present for the dinner party! And one of my favorite cult classic films (so many choices!) would have to be Hedwig and the Angry Inch. A cult classic and also one of my favorite films of all time.
One of my favorite cult classic films has got to be Phantom of the Paradise! Paul Williams' soundtrack alone makes this film iconic. Another Brian de Palma cult classic!!!
You're both a self-possessed flair in reading. Elston, you're a bit of a swooner and enjoyed Glück.
Soft refrain of "Praise the Rain."
I'm going to nominate ahead of it's season the cult film classic: "Black Christmas," 1974. This has been remade and to no avail did the first five minutes arrest my attention significantly to F-Forward to actual disappointing dialogue. I did, to confirm it's diluted intensity in contrast with the original.
The phone calls were more sophomoric than menacing and didn't hone that visceral sexual perversion reflected in the original. Startlingly starring Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder, Andrea Martin, Lynne Griffin and John Saxon, the arrest of these stars in this truly horrific film - Olivia Hussey- Romeo & Juliette of Gian Franco Corsi Zeffirelli fame and unmistakably the best, most beautiful vision and version. To see Olivia, starring in this role was practically antithetical for her, yet she pulled it off. And Margot Kidder, my fave, was astounding. I highly recommend it. The obscene phone calls are really EXTREMELY FILTHY, which is what makes this film a cult classic.
OMG, yes!!! Black Christmas is undoubtedly a cult classic!!! The dirty phone calls are everything, agreed. Margot, what an absolute gem of an actress. Bravo - great recommendation, thank you!
One of my all-time favorite cult films is by far Harold and Maude. I see myself in Harold quite a bit, so that’s probably one reason, LOL! But aside from that it’s an incredible piece of cinema, perfectly blending the macabre and humorous.
Okay, so obviously Hedwig is my favorite. BUT, my second favorite has to be Guy Maddin's Careful (1992). A town so prone to avalanches that people can only whisper, abounding unholy love, a deadly sleigh ride, a sinister butler school, duels, ghosts...all in a heady homage to German expressionism...oh man, it's hard to beat.
I've never even heard of Careful!?!? That one totally flew below my radar. Just watched the trailer on Youtube. Looks so terrible it must be truly amazing. Adding to the list forthwith! Yay! Thanks for the recommendation!

I'll never forget seeing it together in the theater in Paris for the first time!
Same, same, cousin! The best EVER!

Oooh . . . that's a great film! And I can't believe we both chose musicals! (Technically rock operas, but still.)

See? I can list just one . . . mm, hm.

I also have Billy's phone call dialogues committed to memory, expect one soon!
We watched Black Christmas last Halloween on your recommendation! A true cult classic. So scary and disturbing and good! Great cast.

Loved Piper Laurie. Children of a lesser. God was an incredible movie. It woke up so many people to the realities of the disabled in whatever form.
Your house looks beautiful based on the view of your kitchen from the appertivo you were enjoying that evening!
