Pamela Coleman Smith! Love this choice. Would love a documentary about this important artist. And what a coincidence/synchronicity! I am *literally* re-reading two books about the Tarot this week, both of which feature Pamela Coleman Smith prominently! She's literally been on my mind (and my e-reader) all week. (The books are Rachel Pollack's Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom: A Book of Tarot and Rachel Pollack's Tarot Wisdom - I'm currently re-reading multiple books by Rachel Pollack for an upcoming article I'm writing!)
I want someone to make a documentary about the trailblazing trans soul singer from the 1960s, Jackie Shane! There's a great CBC radio documentary about her fascinating life [listen here: https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/1573021090], but I want a big budget film documentary with archival concert footage, in-depth interviews and famous talking heads discussing her legacy! To hear her music, the best compilation can be heard here:
I would love to see a documentary about one of my favorite Modernist poets and artists, Mina Loy. Her biography Becoming Modern: The Life of Mina Loy by biographer Carolyn Burke would make the perfect documentary about this amazing, avant-garde artist. From gallivanting around the globe from Vienna to Florence to Paris to New York to Mexico and finally Aspen, she led quite an extraordinary life!
R&R you really outdid yourselves with this podcast. The music was superb and the artists--oh my! Ursula was jaw dropping fascinating and John Craxton was exquisite.
I would like to see a documentary about woman Dada artist Hannah Hoch.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it! We would both love to be in Cologne right now for that Ursula exposition. And yes, we would also love to see a documentary about Hannah Hoch - LOVE her!

Oooohhh, a Jackie Shane documentary would be amazing! Cheers to that!

Couldn't agree more! A Mina Loy documentary (and/or biopic!) would be everything. Where are the documentaries about all those amazing modernist women?
