Well, I'll keep this dinner party going until breakfast! It may sound strange but I think my favorite breakfast in the world is a piping hot bowl of Phở. While I could eat phở at any time of the day, I find it completely reviving in the morning and it sustains me for the rest of the day.
Oh my gosh, Loreena McKennitt! Takes me back to winter days, bundled up in my water bed (yes, water bed) reading fantasty novels while my dad sat at the foot of my bed playing Zelda on the Nintendo (why they put that thing in my room, I'll never understand...I guess it did allow for hours of my father and I sharing a space without fighting since we were engrossed in our own things. Silver linings.)
Latkes with applesauce and sour cream for me! Honestly, though, if I started everyday with Eggo waffles, I'd be pretty damned pleased about it. I can't though because I don't have the self restraint to eat just two. Inexplicably delicious!
Love your Loreena McKennitt story! I, too, had a water bed for many years (until a kitten learned that the bubbles were very exciting to chase). I likewise love your breakfast choices! Latkes (which *must* be served with applesauce and sour cream) are another personal favorite. And I don't think I would have survived my last two years of college without blueberry Eggo wafles. I had the toaster programmed so that they would pop *at the moment* I was leaving my apartment each morning, and I could eat *exactly* two in the time it took me to reach campus by foot. Saved my academic career!
Oh how I miss the vegan biscuits and gravy at the Globe! I've tried to replicate them many times, and though I've come close, I've never figured out what the secret was to that mushroom sauce.
Back from Greece! I'm *really* late to the dinner party this week. That being said, I will say that tyropita (aka tiropita) - crispy, buttery phyllo-layered cheese pie - is one of my favorite breakfasts. Especially when it's fresh from a Greek bakery and eaten right out of the paper bag!

So true! Phở is a perfect breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Biscuits & gravy with a side dish of fruit and coffee is a favorite. Something I don't have often but is a treat when I do indulge.
Biscuits & gravy are another favorite! Yum! I really need to start baking biscuits again . . .

I love latkes with applesauce and sour cream! And Leggo my Eggo! I ate them too, especially the blueberry ones smothered in butter. Miam miam miam.
I'm all about the blueberry Eggos with butter. Eggo Epicureans! Cheers to that!

Biscuits and gravy!! (Shoutout to the old Globe cafe in Seattle)
Also, a delicious cheese and mushroom omelet!
