I was riveted reading the story or your horrific flight! Then I loved reading about Belgrade. I am always so astounded that these Eastern Europea cities are just as beautiful and cosmopolitan as Western Europe. I lived in Germany before the wall came down and those were not the images I remember seeing. I could just sit for hours and read about your travel ventures.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the article. Despite the awful flight, Belgrade is a really charming and beautiful city and the people are lovely. It has the Austro-Hungarian Empire architecture mixed with a very ancient feeling, especially nestled along the Danube. Germany before the wall must have been a real experience, wow. Thank you for your comments, so appreciated!!!
Okay, I've been on one of those puddle jumpers, it's a disconcerting quality of charm to think of riding on one. But in a violent lighting and rainstorm (listening to Flight F-I-N-A-L) while reading this, cramped in an airtight plane wreaking of vomit, while wondering when the crash will happen- if for the sole purpose of coping with chunky puke moving through the inescapable cabin, THE HORROR! You're so lucky you made it!
I made fun of the whole thing but it was harrowing, I'll tell you. Flight F-I-N-A-L is hilarious, as long as you don't think you're actually headed to the New Jerusalem, hahahaa. We ARE lucky we made it!
What a ride!
Not one we're ever anxious to repeat!

Still . . . . imagine the pilot micro-clotting, slumped over the control board, fibrillated . . . what could go wrong?!
Hahaha!
I remember you telling me this story. No one would ever want to be on that flight.
Although I'm making light of it now, it was so traumatic at the time!
