At Home with Jacques Pépin: Jacques Pépin’s Secret Tip for Making Perfect Fried Eggs!
Three Short Poems in Anticipation of Autumn (Autumn Equinox is Saturday, September 23, 2023!):
A Trivial Day in Early Autumn by Pearl Andelson Sherry (1899-1966) A China lily cup Upon a pool Lifts up Its bowl. Over the pale sky Frail clouds; A butterfly About the garden flowers. Subtle The wind Among The falling leaves. The grass Is wanly brittle Beneath the feet Of those who pass. *** Autumn by Amy Lowell (1874-1925) All day I have watched the purple vine leaves Fall into the water. And now in the moonlight they still fall, But each leaf is fringed with silver. *** First Autumn by Jessica Nelson North (1891-1988) All in our pearl-pale window The moon’s aroma hung. My love and I together Our heads upon one pillow, Looked out where an elm upflung A branch like a peacock feather. Heigho, first autumn weather!
The Modern House: Inside The Art-Filled Home/Studio This Textile Designer Has Rented For 48 years
“Pauline Caulfield’s home and studio has long been an artist’s haven. Before she and her ex-husband, the late painter and printmaker Patrick Caulfield, began renting their red-brick cottage in north London nearly 50 years ago, it belonged to, among others, the book illustrator Arthur Rackham, the abstract artist John Hoyland and the Pre-Raphaelite painter John William Waterhouse.”
