A Poem & Song in Celebration of Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day and National Poetry Month, I would like to offer a little poem I wrote during a very spiritual honeymoon getaway my husband and I spent in a cozy woodland cabin at Big Sur.

Beneath the emerging stars in an outdoor freshwater hot tub nestled amongst the towering redwood trees, birds soaring overhead, this poem came to me.

I have also included the audio version I recorded on my 2013 album, Give Me Your Alchemy [available on Bandcamp here], accompanied by exquisite music composed by Jacen Touchstone.

So in honor of our beautiful, radiant Mother Earth, I humbly offer my peaceful tribute, “Dazzling Asterion.”

Dazzling Asterion

My ways are your ways
Silent spider
Sacred turtle
Brother hawk
Beloved raven
Sensuous snake
And reverent tree

We are water
We are air, earth and space
We are the ever-grace to fire

We are the sun
Each one subject to his light
In blinding sight

We are the one
Found in flight
In constant reverence
In sacred dance
To Nyx, to nacht, to night

My pulse is your pulse
Distant quasar
Blackest hole
Glimmering ghost star
Radiant moon
Second sun
Or Dazzling Asterion
